In the early days of Botswana tourism, hunting was the main activity. Communities living in these concession areas did not profit directly, until legislation was regulated in their favour. The rights of the people were changed and now they share in the many benefits their natural resources provide. Income and employment opportunities have been improved dramatically and agreements with safari companies ensure that social, economic and environmental issues, impact local communities to their full advantage.
Elephant buffalo, hippo, red lechwe, wildebeest, giraffe, crocs, lion, cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena, kudu, sable, zebra and warthog.
Most birds occur during the summer months when migrants are present. In winter , the sparser vegetation attract waterfowl, who tend to congregate in large numbers. Huge flights of wattled crane can be seen and other sightings include Pel's fishing owl, black coucal, long-toed plovers, reed cormorant, African spoonbill, herons and brown fire finches.
Painted reed frogs and long reed frogs are common while creepy crawlies you might prefer to ignore include water snails, river crabs, millipedes, a selection of spiders, bees and flies.
Excellent mammal & bird viewing opportunities make this one of the premier wildlife camps in Botswana
