Chobe Game Lodge

Chobe National Park | Botswana

Chobe Game Lodge is situated in Botswana's famous Chobe National Park, some 20km upstream from the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers. It is the only permanent game lodge located in the park, and is therefore the most convenient base to explore both Chobe Park and River. Access is via the park gate at Kasane, approximately a 2hr drive by road. Alternately many visitors fly-in and transfer by light aircraft from Victoria Falls or Livingstone International Airports. Air Botswana operates a twice-weekly service from Johannesburg to Kasane International Airport.

Chobe Game Lodge's main draw card is that it occupies a sensational setting beside the Chobe River; arguably the park's most illustrious attraction. Huge herds of elephant and buffalo are drawn together during the dry season.

Facilities within the lodge include a well-stocked curio shop, wildlife reference library and the Tshwene Bar, a stylish cigar bar equipped with a full-sized Victorian pool table, overlooking the floodplains. A broadband Internet connection is available in here, an ideal opportunity to catch up with all the news from home and world events.

The Chobe Game Lodge boma (an outdoor eating area enclosed by reed walls), is situated under large mahogany trees on the banks of the river. Meals are served here and on the terrace restaurant. The boma has been furnished in teak and leather. Other amenities include a large swimming pool with its own terrace, and a riverside boma area where a Marimba band or traditional dancers perform.

For those who aim to keep in shape, then a visit to the gym for an invigorating workout is recommended. Alternately, body and soul can be pampered with an appointment with the in-house beautician. Conventions, seminars and business meetings can be conducted in their fully-equipped, air- conditioned conference room. It seats between 45 to 90 delegates.

Power is available throughout the lodge 24/7, and is supplied by mains electricity. Camera batteries can be recharged in guest rooms – AC 220v.

The following rooms are available at Chobe Game lodge

  • All 47 rooms at the lodge are river facing and air-conditioning, overhead fans, complimentary mini-bar, en-suite bathrooms and private terrace are standard.
  • The 4 river view suites have the same facilities as the standard luxury rooms, but each has its own plunge pool and a separate lounge area.

An abundance of wildlife roam freely around Chobe. It is home to the largest concentration of elephant on the continent during the dry season, and they congregate along the fertile flood plains of the Chobe River with large herds of buffalo.
