Kubu Lodge

Kubu Lodge is a small, privately owned run lodge set on the banks of the mighty Chobe River. It is 1km north of the Kasane - Kazungula road, near the Zambia and Zimbabwe borders. It is actually in Kazungula which is 6km east of Kasane.

This is an ideal destination to explore Botswana's northern attractions such as the world famous Chobe National Park, or to the mighty Victoria Falls, which is less than 1hrs drive away. Its idyllic setting spreads beneath giant ebony and wild fig trees on the river's edge.

The restaurant at Kubu Lodge serves 3 meals a day. They pride themselves on their excellent cuisine and cater for all tastes. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style and dinner is 'Table d'hote'. The bar is located in the restaurant and guests can enjoy a drink from the well-stocked bar and wine cellar as they admire the view of the Chobe River at the same time. Souveniers can be purchased from the curio shop, which stocks a fine selection of locally produced arts and crafts. The privacy and seclusion of the swimming pool, again with a view of the river, is a favoured spot at the lodge to escape the hot afternoon sunshine.

Many guests head to the Summerhouse, a thatched respite ideal to chill and relax, read a book or catch up on your journal. The Kwa Maningi is the lodge wellness centre, and many a guest has been refreshed and revitalized with the variety of health and beauty treatments available.

Accommodation at Kubu Lodge is in 11 rustic, thatched chalets, elevated on wooden stilts to afford magnificent views of the Chobe River environment. En-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and a tea/coffee station are standard.

Game drives
A morning or afternoon game drive into Chobe National Park takes around 3hr. Lead by a professional and knowledgeable guide, you will be able to see a variety of the park's big game and wildlife.
Boat cruises
Many travellers prefer to cruise the waterways and channels of the Chobe River to game view. This offers excellent game viewing and birding opportunities, not normally seen by vehicle and without disturbing the animals as they go about their daily routines in search of food. The afternoon is a favourite as hippo amble onto dry land and elephants fill the waterfront to drink, bathe and play. The cruise is aboard the 'Finfoot', the lodge's own boat, with an upper seating level. This trip takes its passengers to the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers, the famed meeting place of 4 countries, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Nature Trail
The more energetic can take a short walk along their 2km Nature Trail, an interesting journey meandering along the pristine Chobe riverine habitat. The birdlife along the way is fantastic and this activity gives its participants the perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse of the elusive Chobe Bushbuck that are prevalent on the grounds.
