Island Safari Lodge
Maun | Botswana
Set against the backdrop of the Thamalakane River is Island Safari Lodge, located 12km north of Maun International Airport on the Shorobe road, including 2km on a sign-posted dirt track.
This establishment was one of the first of its kind in Maun, opening in the 1990's and over the last couple of years, has undergone a great deal of renovation and 'revitalisation'. It remains one of Maun's prime tourist destinations. The name refers to the fact that in high water seasons, as with other establishments, it has been completely surrounded by water.
Island Safari Lodge is an ideal stopover when visiting The Okavango Delta, The Moremi Game Reserve or onto Chobe National Park. Many return visitors such as tourists, individual travellers and the business community choose this lodge as their preferred lodgings in Maun.
The all-wood bar, lounge and restaurant are favourite chill-out haunts of their guests, as is the large river-front paved patio. A highlight at dinner time is the 'elephant's leg' lamb steak or for the really hungry, the 'Island Burger'. A feature of the bar is the 'climbing pole'. Other facilities include 2 swimming pools, (one close to the bar), a braai area and the jungle gym. Children are most welcome at the Island Safari Lodge.
